Red sage 丹参 Dān Shēn
Dān Shēn is a herbaceous perennial with spikes of purple flowers that bloom in spring and summer.

Height: up to 2 feet
Sun: full sun
Soil: well drained, moderately fertile soil
Use: used in TCM to move blood and have an effect on menstruation and the cardiovascular system
Havesting: the roots are harvested after 1 year or more in late fall to early spring when the plant is dormant
Propagation: seed sown in fall or very early spring
