Figwort 玄參 Xuán Shēn
Xuán Shēn is a herbaceous perennial.
This is the European Scrophularia nodosa. In TCM Scrophularia ningpoensis is usually used.
Description
Soil: moist and loose
Sun: full sun to part shade
Use: used in Chinese medicine to nourish the yin, clear heat, cool the blood addressing thirst, dry mouth, dry cough and some skin issues
Harvesting: roots are harvested in the winter after the 3rd year.
